Pythagoras Cave - Samos - Greece

The Secret Cave of Pythagoras

Cave of Pythagoras of Samos. The inventor of the pythagorean theorem
At the Cave where Pythagoras was supposed to have lived when Pollicrates was chasing him. No TV though. What reminds me to tell you about the tunnel of Evpalinos in Pythagorion. You must see that. It's built, ok let's say it all started around 550 b.c. The tunnel was supposed to cary the water from the other side of the mountain in to the town of Pythagorion, what at this time was the main city of Samos Island. With more the 200'000 inhabitants it was quit thirsty. The digging started on two ends in form of a banana. AND they met in the middle. EXACTLY! The difference in height was only about 30 cm. The Evpalinos Tunnel is 1048 Meter long and 1.20 by 1.20 wide. the depth of the water carrying channel is between 2 and 9 meter. Hey guy's all by hand no drill nothing. Wouhh I will put some pictures up from the Tunnel of Evpalinos in a short while. You can view them in our Tip Monkey Section

The picture has been taken by Victor Ek, whom i also want to thank for his objective critics.
