VOTSALAKIA is a 2 km long village where you can get just about everything you need on your Holiday. Many Tavernas are to be found all along the street and on the beach. there are umbrellas and sun beds on the beach and there is enough space for those who don't require them as well. Until to now, there are no jet-bikes to be seen. Behind the village you can walk up to the 'Monastry of Evangelistria' or if you dare, right to the top. Mount Kerkis is 1443 meters high and the last 43 are the hardest ...

	... if you would like to walk up the mountain, please inform your reception, take enough drinking water with you, a good pair of shoes and something to cover your head. And when you come back, please inform your reception about your safe return. It is a REAL mountain! And the view is great! You will see for yourself why the greeks believed that the gods live on top of a mountain. This is an example of a nice place to spend your afternoon, reading a book and have cool glass of Retsina, some olives and some feta-cheese on the table. The stunning view up to Mt. Kerkis is unbeatable. The restaurant is located below towards the 'main street'. You could also say to the only relevant street. There are Supermarkets and Souvenir Shops near by as well as Beach Cafes and Bars.

	Internet is available just across the street. You can even get a Haircut or new hairstyle at BladeZ which is located just 100 meter up the street. A Medical Doctor is located down in Votsalakia and up in the village of Marathokamos. There is only one late night place directly in Votsalakia but there are many places for late night-entertainment in the town of Karlovasi. 25 minutes by car, but be aware, no drink and drive in greece. The fines are horrendous. Anyway be careful on the road. Talking about roads, most of the roads round the island and up to the villages are in a pretty good condition. Some though, away from the main tracks are rocky and not so easy to drive. If you plan to go high up to Mount Ambelos or Karbouni, we recommend you hire a jeep for that. Be careful to check for Full Insurance' that covers glass, mirrors and your car beneath as well as the tires. Otherwise you will get a rather bad surprise if something happens.

Beware as well for the helmet law in greece if you are on a bike trip. Especially the trips to the mountains they are a great adventure on a bike, a real bike not a scooter. Above the villages of Ambelos, Manolates and Bourliotes, Samos shows it's real beauty. Deep forest and a stunning view awaits you up there. It might get a bit cool even in summer time, so think about clothing well.
